Shirley Ann Lusk

Shirley Ann McCuistion Lusk of Waxahachie was born July 6, 1937 in Asher, Oklahoma to O.A. & Mattie (Baldwin) McCuistion. She passed from this life August 25, 2013 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's. Shirley was preceded in death by parents; husband Walter Samuel Lusk; grandson Derek Cline; brothers Vernon McCuistion, Hart McCuistion, John McCuistion. Shirley was a strong and independent "Sooner" who came to Dallas in 1955 on a bus right after graduation. She settled in Dallas starting a career with Liberty Mutual Insurance. She loved to bowl and met Sam in a bowling league and they were married November 4, 1960. Sam and Shirley raised their family in Lancaster, TX after moving there in 1970. During this time, Shirley worked for Lancaster ISD. After the kids were mostly out of school Shirley went to work for Cedar Valley College, where she made many friends and loved helping the students in the testing center. Additionally, she achieved her dream by earning a degree in accounting from CVC. She retired from CVC in August of 2007, after 20 years of service. After retirement, she began her journey with Alzheimer's. Shirley was a faithful member of the Brown Street Church of Christ. She was formerly a member of Belt Line at Main and Northside Church of Christ in Lancaster. The family would like to thank the staff at Sterling House - Waxahachie for the care, love and support provided for Shirley. Additionally we would like to thank Jim, Megan, Patty, Ava, Christie, and the staff from Bristol Pathways Hospice of Waxahachie. Shirley is survived by daughter Cheryl McMullan & husband Dennis; sons Dwayne Lusk & wife Cindy, Steve Lusk & wife Vickie; grandchildren Jordan McMullan & wife Amanda, Whitney McMullan & Thomas, Scott Thomas & wife Aimee, Kevin Cline, Nikki Cline; great grandchildren Preston, Landon, Drake; brothers Jimmy McCuistion, Gene McCuistion, Jerry McCuistion, Paul McCuistion; sisters Darla Smith, Ruth Corbett, Emma Dahlman.
