    Eva Ann Pogue

    October 29, 1939 - May 6, 2022

    Eva Ann Shivers Pogue left her earthly home on May 6, 2022 and went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family. She was born October 29,1939 in Nash, Tx to Archie Lee and Rosa Lorena Parten Shivers. She had 2 brothers, Archie Jr. & Allen Eugene Shivers and 4 sisters, Doris Faye Hunsucker, Ruby Juanita Rogers, Betsy Shivers and Rosemary Dodson. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Archie & Rosa Shivers; her sisters, Betsy Shivers and Juanita Rogers; her brother, Archie Jr.; and her husband, Von Ray Pogue. Eva Ann worked at the Dairy Queen in Red Oak where she met the man of her dreams, Von Ray Pogue. They married in Oklahoma on September 2, 1957. They made their home in Lancaster and had 5 children, Faron, Belinda Gibbons (Dale Hedrick), Paris (Amy), Beth Venable (Mark), and Brandi Grimes (Kyle Wyatt); She has 11 Grandchildren, Kalee Gibbons Jackson (Matt), Cory Reed (Kelsi), Natalie Gibbons Kovacik (Chris), Chanc & Rydge Pogue, Dustin Venable (Ashley), Mikayla Venable, Sydnee & Tanner Pogue, Wyatt & Monty Grimes and their father Taylor Grimes; her 8 Great grandchildren, Cash & Kinsley Reed, Meridian, Dawson, Grady Quinn, and Evelyn (Evie) Ann Jackson, Cheyenne Venable, Tyrson Kovacik, and Jaxson Pogue; her brother in law, Ted Pogue; her sister in law, Karon Pogue Hines; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was proud to have the doors of her home ALWAYS OPEN to family and friends, and friends of friends. She never met a stranger, and she ALWAYS WELCOMED and LOVED. Eva was a member of First Baptist Church Lancaster since 1977. She was a good Christian woman and loved the Lord! She had a true servant’s heart and loved to serve others with her gifts of food, friendship, flowers and her time. Eva worked at Chester Clinic in Lancaster while the kids were in elementary school. Then at AOA at Love Field in 1975 where she enjoyed carpooling with friends. Eva was the first employee of Midway Park Medical Center that opened in 1980. She started as an administrative secretary, then Patient Care Coordinator, Senior Friends, and Volunteer Coordinator. She loved to go to Dallas Market and buy for the Hospital gift shop as well as make personal gifts for each Volunteer for Christmas or a special occasion, as well as, coordinate day or weekend trips for the Seniors and volunteers. Eva also had great fun making crafts with her sisters and traveling with them as well. They had great memories and have ALL the photos to prove it. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends and cousins, Boots and Margaret as well. She took cruises and has seen many countries. Eva Ann was the BEST Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend to so many. She had the most beautiful smile and laugh; her love was contagious. And to ALL of YOU,….. know that, she treasured your friendship and Loved you beyond measure. She kept every card that you ever sent her. She was the sweetest, kindest, loving, giving and fair woman we've ever known. She loved reading and had books and magazines of many varied topics. She loved to gift her friends and family with books and cards. Eva was very talented in many areas. She loved cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, crocheting, and making pottery. She was a great artist and, there was no jewelry she didn’t like! We don’t think there is anything she could not do! She was truly the love of our lives and we will miss her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor. Family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster. A celebration of Eva Ann's life will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Lancaster.
