Kenneth Edwin Carruthers

August 31, 1946 - October 30, 2016

Kenneth Edwin Carruthers of Red Oak, Texas was born August 31, 1946 in Dallas, Texas to Sherman Edwin and Velma Merle (Alphin) Carruthers. He passed peacefully from this life on October 30, 2016 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital/Bristol Pathways Hospice in Waxahachie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Sherman and Velma Carruthers, brother Lang Carruthers, and stepson James Michael Wilson. Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He loved sports, especially his Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks (Win or Lose). He coached Little Baseball in Ovilla, Texas beginning with T-ball through Senior League. He was the happiest when he finally got to coach his sons Evan and Robert on the same team – “The Longhorns”. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, papaw, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan (Gray) Carruthers, sons Evan Carruthers (Jacy), Robert Stephan Wilson, and Koby Lee Carruthers, daughter Kerith Leigh Carruthers. Ten grandchildren, Christopher Michael Wilson, Karsen Carruthers, Tristyn Jay Carruthers, Jordan, CJ, and Lynzee Young, Kaelyn Spear, Tanner McDaniel, Ryland McDaniel, Duke Carruthers and 1 great-grandchild Michael Cole Wilson. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Baylor Scott & White Hospital and Bristol Pathways Hospice for the excellent care they provided to our loved one. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
