Nolan Martell Slagle
September 30, 1944 - December 8, 2019
Nolan Martell Slagle was born September 30, 1944, in Dallas to Nolen Elmer and Ruby Pearl Rodges Slagle. He passed from this life on December 8, 2019, in Denton. Nolan was an electrical contractor and owned his own business in Dallas for many years. One of the most interesting and dramatic contracts he secured, was changing out the lamps on Reunion Tower. Of course, he sent his brother Ronnie high above the city to do this job. As a matter of fact, there are several of the brave daredevils here today, that were known to be dangling from the tower from time to time. Fay…..Gator……Ray……….Bo….. Nolan served in the Seabees during the war in Viet Nam. He and his brother Ronnie were in country at the same time, and met up a few times for R&R. He earned a medal as Sharpshooter, and continued to use this skill as a champion skeet shooter and avid hunter. Nolan never outgrew his love of riding dirt bikes and was always on the track to cheer for JJ during his races, and maybe to yell at him when he didn’t win every single time. He loved country and western music – loved to dance and was known to grab the microphone a few times at the Rocky Top, to sing his favorite Earnest Tubb and George Jones tunes……… Nolan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Shirley Slagle, and his brother, Ronnie Slagle. Nolan is survived by his daughter, Gina Slagle, his son JJ Slagle and wife Misty; his grandchildren, Devin Lester, Leah Slagle, Justin Richardson, Austin Richardson and Kristin Richardson; his great-grandchildren, Eli and Cecelia Carmona; his brother David Slagle and wife Cheryl; his sisters Mary Fields and Debra Osteen, and his sister-in-law Brenda Slagle, and many nieces and nephews.
