    Tommy "Bubba" Griffin, Jr.

    October 17, 1962 - September 20, 2019

Bubba Griffin was a grandfather, a father, a son, a brother and a friend. He’s survived by those of us reading this, and preceded in death by those we’ve loved and lost along the way. Bubba was a one of kind individual, someone who wore the name Bubba better than anyone before him and probably anyone after; a man whose “rough around the edges” persona was contrasted so nicely by how big his heart was. What he lacked in social graces he more than made up for in his propensity to help in anyway imaginable. He cared deeply about his family and friends, and no matter what, you knew it. His sense of humor was uniquely Bubba; a dry sarcasm that never disappeared in even the most serious situations. It’s what allowed him to approach life a little less seriously than most folks take it. It’s what allowed to him ride out a hurricane with his kids in South Padre Island...after he put it to a vote first. Bubba’s philosophy was simple: have fun, don’t worry (“because what is worrying going to change?” he would say), love your family, and don’t be a bother. The last one is admittedly a strange one to include in an obituary, but I would be doing a disservice to him if I didn’t include it. My sister and I can attest to the ways this philosophy is ingrained in our lives, even the last one. He will be missed tremendously. On Friday, September 27, 2019 there will be a small private service for immediate family only. At 4pm the same day, everyone please feel free to join for a larger gathering at 1419 Wyndmere Court, DeSoto 75115, to spend time together eating, drinking, and sharing stories about Bubba. We wish he could be there.
