Obituary

Mr. A. J. Jones was born February 1, 1936 in Dangerfield, TX to the late parentage of Mr. Airy and Mrs. Lola Jones and passed from this life on October 2, 2024 at his home.

He attended the J. J. Rhodes school system in Dangerfield. He met and married Mrs. Vernell Frazier, and to this union, two children were born: Mark Jones and Jacqueline Jones.

A.J. relocated to Dallas, TX and became gainfully employed at O'Neal Steel, Inc. His hard work and dedication earned him a promotion as a supervisor, and he retired from his position after approximately 30 years of service.

Later in life, he became a proud member of the Mt. Calvery Baptist Church in Lancaster, TX.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Mr. Airy and Mrs. Lola Jones; his brothers, Arthur Lee Jones, William Jones, Lawrence Jones, John Jones, and Billie Jo Jones; and his sisters, Alene Jones Peel, Claudine Jones Stern, and Erma Jones Dobyns.

A.J. leaves to cherish his memory his son, Mark Jones (Longview, TX); his two daughters, Jacqueline Jones (Dangerfield, TX) and Lenora Cole (Grand Prairie, TX); his step-daughter, Michelle Jones (Longview, TX); his grandsons, Derrian Jones and Antonio Jones (Dangerfield, TX) and Franky McCloud (Grand Prairie, TX); his brother, Earnest Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of A. J.'s life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, October 12, 2024 also at Byrum Chapel. The interment will immediately follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster, TX.
