Anastatia "Miriam" Abboud (nee Brunnock) went to be with her Lord on May 9th at the age of 77. She passed peacefully with her final day spent visiting with her sons, family, and friends.
Miriam is preceded in death by her partner, Julian "Julio" Cuellar; her father, Jack "John Joe" Brunnock; her mother, Josephine "Nanny" Brunnock (nee Phelan); her sister, Bridget "Babby" Adams; her former husband, Kamal Abboud; her brother-in-law, Patrick Lilley; and her nephew, Gary Boyle.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Jamal and wife Chelsea, Sharif and wife Madison; her grandchildren, Audrea, Alden, Rowan, and Murphy; her brother, John Brunnock; her sisters, Johanna Lilley, Mary Boyle, and Theresa Egan; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born January 16, 1946 in Kilcash, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, Miriam was a wonderful woman who lived with a servant's heart. Coming to the US from Ireland as a teenager, she always called Kilcash "home." She joined the convent at Mount St. Michael in Oak Cliff and worked tirelessly with orphaned girls from junior high to high school age. She would go on to earn her degree in education at the University of Dallas as well as a master's from the University of Texas at Arlington. She taught in Houston and Lancaster ISDs for 40+ years and is well loved and remembered by so many of her former students.
Above all, Miriam was a saint of a mother and loved her sons with a fierce heart. This love was naturally shared with her daughters-in-law and her precious grandchildren. She was a proud Nanny and devoted the last 16 years to pouring her heart into precious times spent with Audrea, Alden, Rowan, and Murphy. She will forever be remembered by those who loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on May 19, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lancaster followed by a private graveside service at Edgewood Cemetery.
