Aurora "Dora" Martinez was born May 11, 1936 in Rio Hondo, Texas and passed from this life on September 16, 2024 in Lancaster, Texas.

Dora spent many years in service to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lancaster serving with the St. Vincent De Paul Society as well as giving communion to the sick and debilitated in nursing homes. On January 21, 2023, she was awarded the "Premio del Obispo" by the Catholic Diocese of Dallas with a medal and certificate of service to the church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donato Gonzales; her mother, Delfino Ramirez; her husband, Bonifacio Martinez; her step-daughter, Norma Porres Mauk; her brother; and her 3 sisters.

Dora is survived by her husband, Jose Canales; 5 sisters; 1 brother; her step-son, Felipe Porres; and her step-granddaughters, Margo Mauk and Hannah Zemso.

Graveside services will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Bryan City Cemetery in Bryan, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Dora's name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lancaster.
