Betty Jean Williams North Quinn was born in West, Texas on November 25, 1928 to Alvin and Alene Williams and passed from this life on August 3, 2026 in Red Oak, Texas. She was the youngest of six children. From West they moved to Corsicana, Texas where they lived until she was ready to start sixth grade. From there, they moved to Waxahachie, Texas, where she met Bill North, the love of her life. They were married in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 1, 1952. Bill served in the Navy and Marines which took them to Hawaii and California. After the birth of their first child, Betty moved back to Waxahachie while Bill served out his term. They then moved to Greenville, Texas after Bill accepted a job at Ling Temco Vought. As their family grew and child number one was ready to start first grade, they moved to Lancaster, Texas in 1960 where they would raise their five children and live until Bill died in 2013 and Betty moved to Red Oak in 2020.

Betty's life mission was to be a wife and mother; so much so that she had 5 kids in 7 years. She excelled in her role and raised five children who knew they were loved, celebrated, and cherished. Four times a year, she modeled at the Apparel Mart in Dallas for Betty Rose Coats and Suits. She loved this but was always ready to get back to her role as mother, chauffeur, cheerleader, cook, etc. She stayed home with her children until the youngest graduated high school and then took a job as a receptionist in a law firm in downtown Dallas. She was 50 years old at the time and served them faithfully until she was 76. The North family were members of First United Methodist Church of Lancaster. ·

Betty was a creature of habit, and after moving to Arabella of Red Oak, she enjoyed Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at Dennys Restaurant in Red Oak. She made great friends there and was always excited to have her drivers, friends, and family join her. The servers there treated her like royalty. She drove until the age of 95 and then relied on friends and family to take her where she needed to go. She loved holidays and the opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Other highlights of her life that she was proud of include the following: She was the queen of Waxahachie High School her senior year and was the first female bank teller at Citizens Bank in Waxahachie. Besides her children, these accomplishments were her claim to fame. She loved to coordinate her outfits from head to toe, get her hair and nails done regularly, and pink roses or lilac anything.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill North; her mother and father, Alvin and Alene Williams; and her siblings, Ben Williams, Opal Sciba, Joe Williams, Alvin Williams, Frances Hrncir.

She is survived by her five children, Gail Strickland (Barry), Nancy Marriott (Bobby), Neal North, Peggy Bureau (Rick), and Sandy Misenheimer (Greg); her grandchildren, Jared Strickland (Lisa), Bret Strickland (Miranda), Jeff Strickland (Kristen), Natalie Hamp (Alex), Andrew North (Claire), Ricky Bureau (Katie), Alexandra Bureau, Hunter Bureau, Michael Trexler, Cassandra Ginger (Will), and Christina Riedel (Jesse); her great-grandchildren, Erica Strickland, Marilu Marquez, Marisol Williams, Maverick Strickland, Kade Strickland, Benjamin North, Caroline Hamp, Troy Hamp, Achilles Hamp, Elizabeth Bureau, Beckett Ginger, and Ledger Ginger; and her great-great-grandchildren, Rafael Morales and Melody Marquez.

The family will receive friends 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel in Lancaster, Texas.

A celebration of Betty’s life will immediately follow at 11:00 am.
