Bonita Born Cabaniss was born on May 28, 1951, in Marshall, Texas and passed away on May
22, 2024, in Red Oak, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Comer and Sarah Born
and her beloved son, Shane Cabaniss. She is survived by Timothy, her husband of 53 years; her sister, Lucile Rhodes Beck; and many other relatives.

When she was a toddler, Bonita's family moved to Lubbock, Texas so her dad could attend Texas Tech University. The family then moved to Lancaster, Texas when she was a young girl where she attended Lancaster schools until her graduation in 1969. Both of her parents were teachers in the district until they retired. Coincidentally, Tim, her future husband, was a grade school student in Mrs. Borns' classroom. After marriage, Bonita attended Dallas Baptist College graduating with both bachelor's and master's degrees. She retired from AT&T as a manager after many years of service.

Bonita was a wonderful wife and a devoted mother to Shane. As her parents aged, she was diligent in nurturing and caring for them, always there when they needed her. She showed love and kindness to all. Her loving nature extended to animals, her two shelties and two border collies... even to the donkeys and goats next door which she kept well-fed.

Bonita was filled with joy and happiness, always laughing and enjoying life. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time, holidays, and vacations with them. A good sport, she was always ready for some good-hearted competition in playing any game, especially one with a homemade marble board.

Bonita was a Christian and attended First Baptist Church in Lancaster from a very young age until the time her illness made it impossible. Her faith was most important, and she urged the rest of the family to attend church wherever they lived and as often as they could.

We will forever treasure the memories she gave each of us.

A celebration of Bonita's life will be at 11:00am on Friday, May 31, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Lancaster with interment immediately following in Edgewood Cemetery.
