Brenda Joyce DeBorde, 71, of Morgan, TX, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023, surrounded by her devoted husband of 51 years, Ralph "Skipper" DeBorde, Jr., and her loving children, Joe DeBorde and wife Sarah, and Dawn Sullivan and husband Jay. Born in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of "Sonny" Wilfred Francis and Gwendolyn "Joyce" Roy. She was the oldest of 5 children, and deeply loved and cared for all of her siblings.

She graduated from Lancaster High School, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and East Texas State University. Education was her passion, and she made it her life's work to enhance the lives of countless students and teachers through her phenomenal pedagogy practices and brilliant curriculum writing skills. She spent the majority of her career working in the public education sector, and retired from Grand Prairie ISD. After retirement she continued to work on her passion and co-owned an educational curriculum company until 2020.

She loved traveling with family and friends, spending time with her children, being the most wonderful and giving Nannie to her grandchildren, and creating beautiful gardens at her dream home. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

Along with her loving husband and children, she is survived by her grandson, Jackson DeBorde, granddaughters Elliott and Stella Sullivan, brothers Bill and Don Roy, sister Patricia Bridges, David and Pam DeBorde, Jerry and Vicki Batten, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Susan Wooldridge.

A visitation to receive family and friends will be held on April 29, 2023, at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster, Texas, from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Her family requests donations be made in her name to local ISDs or public libraries, in lieu of flowers.
