Burel Wolf, a longtime resident of Lancaster, TX passed away on April 22, surrounded by his family. Burel was born at home in Vincent, TX on June 20, 1939 to John Andrew Wolf and Esther Mae McAlister Wolf. Being the baby boy of 14 children, he quickly acquired the nick name "Burely". He also acquired the famous Wolf laugh. All that knew Burel, knew how contagious his laugh could be.

Graduate of 1957, school years were spent in Coahoma, Lamesa, and Welch, TX. There are many stories of the "Wolf" boys and their mischievous adventures. Burel always denied each one but always had a twinkle in his eye.

Sports and helping children were always a big part of Burel's life. He coached several years in the summer baseball program, always making sure that each player had a way to and from the games and practices. Lots of driving all over town picking up the team and purposely picking the bumpiest route to the park so the boys could bounce all over the back of the truck, just to hear them laugh.

Burel was also an active member in the Jaycees, presented with the Presidential award, Key Man of the Year for 1968-69, and Jaycee of the quarter.

After 30 years, Burel retired from the Lancaster Post Office in 1997. His retirement years allowed him more time with his family and gardening. Everyone that knew Burel was aware of his gardening talent, always planting a huge garden, and sharing with everyone in the neighborhood, local businesses, and churches. His garden was even used by a local school, teaching children gardening skills.

Another talent of Burel's was his love to build and create things. His biggest creation was building the basement underneath their existing house, while living in the house. It quickly became the neighborhood storm shelter for people and their pets.

Burel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Lee Jeter Wolf; son Douglas Glen Wolf of Venus, TX; daughter Martha Wolf Salas of Lancaster, TX; grandson Richard C. Salas & wife Shannon; great grandchildren Carissa, Meghan and Malakai; sisters Wilma Jean Walker, Wanda Wilson, Helen Davis; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Burel in death are his parents John & Esther Wolf; brothers Charlie, William (Bill), Buren, Loyd, John Jr, Calvin; sisters Frances, Lorene, Edna and Patsy.

Burel's family and friends have many cherished memories to hold on to. All who knew Burel, cared and respected him as a strong and loving family man, always willing to quietly buy your meal, donate to help others or just drop off a bag of garden fresh vegetables on your porch.
