Carl Ray Williams was born March 16, 1941 in Dallas, Texas and was guided home to Glory by The Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ on January 29, 2024 in Quitman, Texas.

Carl was a long-time member of Asbestos Workers Union Local 21. He was a Beloved Son, Dad, Pawpaw, Great Pawpaw, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. & Ila Ree Williams, as well as his brother, William C. Williams, Jr.

Carl is survived by his brother, James R. Williams; his children, Leslie Peterson, Laurie (Steve) Cervantez, Joseph Williams, and Amy (William) Sabin.
He also leaves behind 9 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Family will receive friends from 11:30am to 12:30pm on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster, TX. A celebration of Carl's life will follow visitation graveside at 1:00pm on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.

The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.

Therefore Jesus said again, "Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
