Charles Glenn Roundtree was a dedicated and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was called home on May 14, 2023 at the age of 88, in his hometown of Midlothian, TX. His battle with serious medical issues throughout his later years showed his courage in facing life's journey with a sense of humor and strong will. Despite his health challenges, Charles remained steadfast in his beliefs and the love for his family.

Charles was born to Jesse and Adelia Roundtree in Littlefield, TX on September 12, 1934. The youngest of four children and the only boy, he spent his early years helping his parents on their farm. He graduated from Duncanville High School in 1952 before attending Abilene Christian University.

Charles loved to engage with people, share stories, and usually leave them with some imparting wisdom to advance their life. This served him well in his professional life spanning 55 years as a Regional Manager for J.I. Case, 30 years, and as an Independent Sales Contractor for Open Road Drivers, 25 years. During his professional careers, he made several life-long friends who enriched his life with connection, joy and laughter. He held fond memories from the various company activities he attended such as customer appreciation Fish Frys and building relationships with all his stores' employees, families, and clients.

Charles embodied a true family man. As his family grew over the years, he embraced each new person with an open heart and a sense of responsibility for their highest well-being. He always made you feel like you mattered. He was a consummate worrier and was diligent about checking up on you to be sure you were ok and never missing an opportunity to throw in a piece of advice. No family gathering was complete without him. Whether he was leading the prayer, making sure you had plenty to eat, having a heart-felt one-on-one talk, or playing dominoes, he was always focused on caring for and enjoying his family. Family gathering always provided a vast assortment of foods, and he loved food, especially ice cream and sweets and would not pass up any opportunity to have them any chance he got. Known as PawPaw, he adored and took a special interest in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives going to dance recitals and sporting events to support them. For a few years at Christmas time, he would dress up as Santa and loved seeing kids' faces light up with excitement when he appeared.

Charles had a true servant's heart not just for his family but also for his faith. He was raised in a Church of Christ home where faith was a core foundation for life. Over the years, he served as a song leader and elder as well as participating in church activities and social groups. He had a fondness for prayer, church hymns and music, and always growing deeper in his faith.

Charles is survived by his wife of 25 years, Peggy Roundtree; children, Kay Moss (Floyd) of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Glenda Matthews (Cole) of Midlothian, TX, and Chuck Roundtree of Dallas, TX; step-children; Denise Murphy (Robert) of Meridian, TX, and Keith Bragg (Connie) of Ennis, TX; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Addylene Roundtree (d.1997); parents, Jesse and Adelia Roundtree; and sisters Roberta Roundtree, Gerry Jepsen, and Bettye Gleghorn.

The honoring of his beautiful life will be at Creekside Church in Midlothian on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 12:00pm with visitation prior at 11am. A private graveside ceremony for immediate family only will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster, TX.
