On the morning of February 20, 2021, Pete passed away at Methodist Charlton Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Pete was born October 12, 1937 in Dallas, TX to Jack and Jean Davis of Lancaster, TX.
He grew up in Lancaster and as a kid never met a stray dog or cat that didn't want to follow him home. Pete had a big heart for animals and loved his pets. He graduated from LHS and joined the Army. His service was in Army Intelligence with his longest tour in Ethiopia. After his service he married Linda, with whom he had his children Justine and Kirk. They eventually settled in Amarillo where he ran a successful business. He moved to Desoto in 1984 where he married his wife of 35 years, Laura in 1985.
He and Laura enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and a friendly college football rivalry when his Aggies played her Longhorns. They loved spending time with their four children and grandkids. Pete was an excellent cook and liked to collect cookbooks.
Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Laura on June 11, 2020 and missed her terribly.
He is survived by his brother Homer Davis, children Justine and Eric Dyess, and grandchildren Tyler Dyess, Jeremy Dyess, Bonnie Dyess, and Zachary Dyess. Kirk and Gill Davis, and Kirk's daughter with Lisa Davis, Sarah Davis. His stepdaughters Laurie Beth Schmitt and Dana Perrin, sons-in-law Doug Perrin and Bubba Schmitt grandchildren Rebecca Calhoun and her husband Chris Calhoun, Dallas Schmitt and great granddaughter Elizabeth Calhoun.
Pete was well and truly loved by his family.
A graveside service will be conducted at DFW National Cemetery in Arlington, TX, at 9:30am on Wednesday, March 10, 2021
