David Lynn Grandstaff was born December 6, 1940 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio to Harry E. Grandstaff and Ida Bricker. He passed from this life on July 3, 2023 in Mansfield, Texas.
There were many aspects of David's life that defined him and many things that he loved. He was a United States Army Veteran. He loved life, history, and traveling by land as well as hunting and fishing with his family and friends. David loved baseball as well. He even played minor league ball for a while before a foot injury ended his career. That wasn't his only sports love. He loved watching and supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes football team every season. One of his favorite things of all was drinking Miller Lite in a bottle. David also loved racing. He loved going to the track and even owned a few race horses at one time. He also used to race cars for a while. Cars were an important part of his life. On top of racing for a while, David successfully owned and operated an auto body shop for 40 years. David was a generous man with his family and friends as well as his employees. If any of them needed anything, he was the one there to help. He was also a sentimental soul. Due to city expansion, David had his mother's house moved to another location to save it from demolition. He then lived there until close to the end of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tom Grandstaff; and his sister, Elizabeth Hurst.
David is survived by his daughter, Deanna Mahurin and husband Allen; his son, David L. Grandstaff and wife Shelley along with their daughter, Sydney; his step-son, Greg Lyon and wife Gina along with their children, Preston, Abby, and Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.
