Earl Richard "Rick" Estey of Ferris, Texas was born in Burtt's Corner, Canada in January of 1947 and passed from this life on October 19, 2021 in Waxahachie, Texas. Although Rick was 74 years old, he was gone much too soon. On his final day, he was surrounded with love from his daughters, his son-in-law, and eldest granddaughter.

He spent his early childhood with his beloved maternal grandparents, "Nan and Granddad," in Slough, England, before coming to America for the remainder of his life. After serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Rick became a U.S. Citizen in 1988. For most of his life, he worked in the printing field, but his absolute joy was his pecan farm country home. Rick and his father Charles purchased adjoining five-acre lots of land in Ferris, Texas from the Texas Veterans Land Board shortly after his Naturalization and he spent the rest of his life working both lots, planting pecan trees, fruit trees, and various gardens over the years.

Rick absolutely loved being "a girl dad," was forever very proud of his three daughters, and delighted in the joy of his grand- and great-granddaughters. He was a loving father, never failing to tell his girls how much he loved them every day and demonstrating that love wholeheartedly in every possible way.

He loved and was loved by so many friends, neighbors, and family members and was a fierce friend to them all. Rick was a hardworking man, always willing to help with any task, always willing to go above and beyond for anyone. Rick had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with friends over cups of coffee. He was very close to his father whom he often said was his example for being a loving father.

Rick was an avid coin collector, a patient fisherman, a long-suffering mechanic, a skilled carpenter, and would gruffly deny being the animal lover he truly was. His tireless love and devotion to his family were evident during his final days and he will be forever loved and missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elaine Perkins; his brother, Roy Perkins; and his maternal grandparents, Norman and Frances "Tess" Dobing.

Rick is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Beard, Beth Hardwick and husband Brian, and Samantha Estey; his grandchildren, Austyn Snelus and husband Austin; Emme Hardwick; his great-granddaughters, Aubree Snelus and soon to be Elliott Snelus; his former wife, Jeanne Estey; his brother, David Perkins and wife Lori; and his sister, Kathy Rymer and husband Nick.
