Vera Evelyn Davis was born May 5, 1927 in Angus, TX and passed from this life on September 9, 2023 in Waxahachie, TX.

Evelyn married Chalmers Davis in 1944. They reared their family in Lancaster, TX and attended the Church of Christ in Lancaster before later moving their membership to Waxahachie. Evelyn and Chalmers had 47 years of love and memories before he passed away in 1992. Besides her family, she loved reading, gardening, and cooking. Evelyn will always be remembered for her chocolate and coconut pies!

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chalmers James Davis; her son, Joe Clyde Davis; her daughter, Vicki Annette Davis; her great-grandson, Nicholas Lindley; and her parents, Neil Gillis Dillard and Nannie Jane Dillard.

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Lanell Loggins; her daughter, Mary Lou Bowman and husband Tommy J. Bowman; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Davis; her grandson, Matt Bowman and wife Katrina; her granddaughters, Brooke Kirkpatrick and husband David, Stacey Davis, Meggie Lindley and husband Jon, Lori Meister and husband Brian, Beth Costley and husband Woody; her great-grandchildren, Tori and Avery Evans, Paige and Zak Hamlin, Samantha and Kelsi Lindley, Briley and Jolie Meister, and Colton, Josh, Addie, Molly, and Anslie Costley; her great-great-grandchildren, Waylon Costley, Hudson & Charli Costley, and Jay Hamlin; many nieces and nephews; and a few special people in her life, Kelly Green, Jimmy and Betty Little, James and Carolyn Johnson, Juan Hidalgo, and her Church of Christ family.

A celebration of Evelyn's life will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 12:00pm, noon, before the service.
