Gwendolyn Yvonne Bloominger Poteet, 80, of Red Oak, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Red Oak, Texas.
Gwen was born January 4, 1937 to Earl Parker and Melva Francis Ford Bloominger in Aline, Oklahoma. She was adopted by her mother's second husband, John Bloominger. She lived most of her life in Red Oak, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; Kansas; and Huntington Park California.
She met the love of her life, Kenneth Dean Poteet, while living in the same boarding house. They soon married on November 4, 1961 in Huntington Park, California. Together, they raised four children to know and love the Lord. Gwen made sure her children were in Church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H club, band, and sports.
She worked many years prior to her marriage at Sears. Once married, she became a stay-at-home mom. As we grew, she began selling Avon so she could remain at home with her children. Later, she worked at the Sweetheart Factory, Duncan Donuts, and retired from Geotronics.
Gwen's main hobby was painting ceramics at a shop in Lancaster Town Square. She made many beautiful pieces that even won first place in contests. She painted each family member personalized pieces that we will cherish for a lifetime.
Gwen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth of 54 years, her son, Charles Edward Poteet, and grandson, Joseph Ray Warner.
Gwen is survived by her daughter, Debi Warner and her husband, Ray of Post Falls, ID; daughter, Karen McMillan and her husband, William of Bristol, TX; daughter, Rhonda Morton, of Red Oak, Tx. Grandchildren: Bethany, Sarah, Jeremiah, Rebekah, Mark, Jacob Warner all of Post Falls, ID; Melissa, Courtney, Tristan, and Kaelin McMillan, all of Bristol, TX; Elizabeth (and her husband Brian) and Matthew of Red Oak, TX. Great Grandchildren: Jayden, Payton, and Nash Buchert of Red Oak, TX. Her sister, JoLynn Schwartz and her husband, Carl; Nephew, John Schwartz; and her brothers, Carl Parker and Warren Parker.
Pall bearers are grandsons and nephews.

Visitation is Sunday from 2-4 pm at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster Texas.
Funeral is Monday at 2pm at 2471 Brown Street, church of Christ in Waxahachie Texas with Roben Hanes officiating.
Burial will follow at Bristol Cemetery. Arrangements are by Byrum Funeral Home.
