Hazel Carolyn 'Nan' Parish (Fuller), 84, of Red Oak, Texas passed peacefully in her sleep on July 10, 2024. Carolyn was born in Blooming Grove, Texas on December 16, 1939, to William Travis and Edith Hazel Fuller (Staggs). Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family growing up. Carolyn spent her younger years in Blooming Grove and Wilmer, Texas helping care for her siblings until she was old enough to work in a restaurant.
After working in the restaurant, Carolyn went on to work at Sears & Roebuck Company for over 25-years holding various clerical positions including, payroll, secretary, and a supervisor. Carolyn retired in the mid-1980's from Sears & Roebuck Company. Carolyn dedicated her time to her family and being a home-maker after retirement.
Carolyn met the love of her life in 1958, Joy Lee Parish, at a local Baptist church where Joy was a Deacon and Carolyn sang in the choir. Joy and Carolyn were married on January 31, 1959. Joy had a son from a previous marriage, Tommy Parish, whom Carolyn and Joy enjoyed raising together and attending his sporting events. In 1968, Carolyn and Joy adopted an 18-month old girl, Dana Parish. Joy and Carolyn were members of the Cowboy Church of Ellis County.
In 1983, Joy and Carolyn opened a music store, which Carolyn assisted Joy by handling all the clerical duties.
Carolyn will always be remembered for her love of cooking and taking care of children. Carolyn and Joy opened their home to others and brought family and friends together for various gatherings throughout the year. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joy Parish, step-son, Tommy Parish, her parents, William and Edith Fuller; two brothers, William Travis Fuller Jr. and Eddie Gene Fuller. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Dana Parish; her granddaughters, Fawn Trotter (Justin Trotter), Snowy Joiner (Jesse Joiner), along with Kristi Lasher (Jason Lasher); her great-grandchildren, Levi Trotter and Faithlyn Joiner, along with Dixie, Maddie and Jace Lasher; and siblings Mildred Anglin, Sue Hardin, and Marion 'Bud' Fuller, along with numerous friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel in Lancaster with the celebration of Carolyn's life to be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Red Oak Cemetery following the service.
