Jack Dempsey Terry was born March 23, 1936 in Lampasas, Texas to Jerry Henry Terry and Rubye Farmer Chandler. God called him home on November 1, 2021 in Lancaster, Texas.

Jack attended Arlington State College on a football scholarship where he played on the winning team of the Junior Rose Bowl in Pasadena. He loved the game of football. Jack began his career in 1957 with the US Postal Service and worked his way up through many jobs to the position of Manager of Quality Control for North Texas before retiring. Once retired, Jack went back to his love of football by beginning a 25-year career as a much-loved coach for the Dallas Christian Chargers Football program. Yes, Jack loved football, Mike Wheeler and his coaching staff, and the kids in uniform that walked through his life. Yes, he loved working and making sure things were done right. More than that, Jack loved his family. He loved being at every event with his grandkids and his great-grands. He loved his God and serving the church as an elder at Northside Church of Christ and Beltline at Main Church of Christ. He loved everyone and good times shared with them. This time and love invested in these various groups of people showed just how selfless he was and how big of a heart he truly had.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Charles E. Terry and Jerry Gayle Terry.

Jack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sandra Byrum Terry; his children, Kathy and Randy Lemmond, and Mark Terry; his grandchildren, Jeff and Kacy Lemmond, Lee and Annie Lemmond, Katie and Dustin Mathes, John Terry, Becca and John Salinas, and Tony and Paul Vincent; his great-grandchildren, Madison Perry and Peyton Amy, Taylor Lemmond, Jack Douglas Lemmond, Micah Mathes, Mason Salinas, Macon Mathes, Ryann Lemmond, Miles Mathes, Rhett Lemmond, Tucker Salinas, Thomas and Baillie Vincent, Jacob Vincent, and Zachary Vincent; his great-great-granddaughter, Stevie Blair Amy; his special niece, Amie Dean Douglas; his siblings, Sammy Terry, Marilyn Naizer, and Jenny and Dale Mitchusson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family would like to express extreme gratitude for the love, strength, and support poured over them from the Bristol Hospice Family, especially Teresa Dotson, Rachel Rinehart, Quanshawn Scott, and Chaplain Jerry Bloomfield.

Family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, November 8, 2021 at Brown Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie with visitation beginning at 10:00am.
