Obituary

Jacob De La Garza, a man of simple joys and deep love, passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2025. He was 76. Born on May 25, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, Jacob lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to his family, and a love for music and dancing.

A true romantic, Jacob met his wife, Charlotte, at a dance. For years, he loved taking her out for dinner and dancing, and at any function, it was a sure thing that he would have her spinning on the dance floor. As a devoted father, he cherished his children, Michele and Jyme Beth, and a favorite pastime was watching his grandkids grow up. Jacob was a willing participant in all their childhood endeavors—happily buying overpriced homemade bracelets and artwork and becoming a formidable opponent during Wii bowling tournaments.

Jacob was an honest and hard-working man, dedicating 45 years to the transportation industry. His career highlights included being awarded the 1 and 2 Million Miles of Safe Driving awards at Air Products. An avid and passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Jacob recorded games so he could watch them year-round, extending the season long after it was over.

He was preceded in death by his father, Juan De La Garza; his mother, Josephine De La Garza; and his brothers, Johnny and David Rene.

Jacob's legacy lives on through his wife of 30 years, Charlotte; his children, Michele De La Garza and Jyme Beth Banz; and his grandchildren, Gabrielle Tyler, Nancina Tyler, Brady Jones, Kylie Harlin, and Kelsie Banz. He also leaves behind numerous other beloved family members and friends.
