Jimmy Don Martin, a beloved son, brother, husband, uncle and loyal friend passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022. With his loving family and his precious dog Maddie at his side, Jim went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior.

Jim was born on May 11, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Joseph and Tommie Martin. He was a man of faith and loved his family and friends dearly. He knew Jesus Christ was his savior, and he was active in his church.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Duckett Martin; his mother, Tommie Jean Martin; his brother, Randy Lynn Martin; his fathers in-law, Richard Paul Binette and Frank Weaver Rose; and his mother in-law, Joan Faye Rose.

Jim graduated from South Oak Cliff high school in 1966. He attended North Texas University in Denton. Jim enlisted in the Marine Reserves in San Diego in 1967 and served through 1973.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cari Martin; his Mother in-law, Jo Binette; his sisters in-law, Chris Martin, Melinda Rose, and Kristi Prigmore; his brothers and sisters in-law, Pat and Lee Moore, Tom and Lisa Cantin, Sean and Jackie Fountain, and Chris and Patty Surrette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim and Cari were true soul mates and loved each other dearly. Their courtship was only five months. They met on September 11th, got engaged on New Year's Eve, and married on Valentine's Day. Their love of world travel was apparent with their many wonderful vacations they shared with friends, family and award trips with co-workers of Cari's. While they had no children, they dearly love all their nieces and nephews from Dallas to New Hampshire. Jim cherished each of his precious dogs and counted them as a big part of the family. He agreed that they teach us how to love unconditionally just like GOD-dog spelled backwards.

Jim never met a stranger and had the wonderful gift of gab. He collected friends like some people collect art. He had a magical way of making anyone feel special. Many of his friends were from his multifaceted career. He worked in sales and management positions for NorthPark National Bank of Dallas, Rand McNally, Rapp & Collin, and C&M Fine Pack. He and his team won many awards for outstanding performance. He was the ultimate team player that knew how to motivate for success. He also won many personal sales awards and never failed to give the credit to people that worked for him.

Jim was also loved for his wonderful personality. He enjoyed playing jokes on all of his friends and family and could verbally impersonate just about anyone. He played Santa for many children at Christmas. Laughter and joy were a big part of his life, and he could tell a story like no other. Jim played racquet ball, tennis, loved riding motorcycles, sailing, and hunting with his brother and Dad. Music and dancing was his happy place, and everyone agreed he had the moves like Jagger. He loved the Caribbean where he and Cari had an extended three month stay in St Croix to see if they could live on an island in retirement. Jim dressed to the 9's and had a flare for being the best dressed guy in the room. One of his best pair of shoes were made of glass beads. His bright blue eyes and genuine smile and sense of humor were enduring to all. He will be cherished and missed by all who knew him.

Jim's Life will be celebrated in New Hampshire in late August with family and close friends. Services will be held on Friday October 7, 2022 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Dallas in the historical sanctuary at 1707 San Jacinto, Dallas, Texas 75201
