Jodie Ray Hobbs was born July 3, 1941 in Sugar Ridge, TX to Jodie Daniel and Pauline Estelle (Davis) Hobbs and passed from this life on March 10, 2020 in Ovilla, TX.

Ray retired from TXU after 37 years of devoted service. He was a hard worker that loved working with his hands right up to the very end. He enjoyed working on his tractors along with any type of manual labor. Although he considered that fun, his other leisure activities that brought him happiness were hunting and fishing. Ray was also an active member of DeSoto Assembly of God where he faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his young son, Steven Ray Hobbs; his brother, Bill; and his sister, Evelyn.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy; his sons, David Hobbs & wife Christine, Eric Hobbs; his grandchildren, Justin Hobbs, Hollie Fincher & husband David, and Colton Hobbs; his great-granddaughter, Raylee Fincher; his sister, Peggy McClain & husband Joe; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Miya Brown.

Family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Byrum Funeral Home. Celebration of Ray's life will be at 10:00am, Monday, March 16, 2020 with interment following at Trinity Cemetery, Wilmer, TX.
