Joy peacefully passed away on Tuesday October 30, 2018 surrounded by family.
Joy was born in Dallas, TX on Dec 31, 1934 to Earl and Hazel Dyess. She was the third of seven children and was born and raised in Hutchins, TX. Upon graduating from Wilmer Hutchins High School she continued her studies at Hardin Simmons University. She later returned to Dallas and began a lifelong career in the insurance business.
On Dec 21, 1956 Joy married Roy Everett Ward and began a life together including having two boys, Craig Everett in 1961 and Trent Dyess in 1966. The two were married for 47 years residing in Lancaster, TX until moving to Hideaway, Lindale, TX in 1991.
Joy and Roy spent many years enjoying watching Craig and Trent's many sporting events and activities until Roy passed in 2003. She was an active and avid community member participating in tennis, pickle ball and loving her weekly mahjong groups. She was an integral part of her boys' and her grandchildren's many sporting events and scholastic accomplishments. She also thrived on her many travels both within the states and abroad with a dear group of lifelong friends as well as family.
Joy will be dearly missed. She was a strong, loving, supportive and committed family member and friend.
She is survived by her two sons, Craig and his wife Lisa, Trent and his wife Patti and her four grandchildren Samantha, Andersen, Carsyn and Ragan.

Visitation with friends and family from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday 11/1 at Byrum Funeral Home.

Graveside service at 1:00 PM Friday 11/2 at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday 11/4 at Hideaway Community Church.
