Laura June Davis, the only child of Ralph and Elizabeth Fox, was born July 28, 1940. She died on June 11, 2020.
Laura was one of a long line of strong, capable women of the Greene family. The Greenes first settled in the Lancaster area in 1845. Laura lived in Dallas County almost her entire life, residing in DeSoto for the past 49 years.
An avid gardener and reader, Laura loved beautiful things. She was a life-long fan of the University of Texas sports teams. Her jaunts to Shreveport or the Oklahoma casinos with her lifelong friend, Margaret Ellerbee were enjoyed immensely.
Her greatest love and pleasure was in her family. She cared faithfully and honorably for her mother and two of her aunts. She loved her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchild unconditionally and was proud of their growth and spirit. Rarely has a woman with a family so small fostered a bigger influence or warmer feelings for her loved ones.
Laura married Clifton "Pete" Davis in 1985. They were true companions for 35 years. Pete cared for Laura through sickness and in health.
Laura is survived by her husband Pete and her daughters, Laurie Beth Schmitt and Dana Perrin, her grandchildren Rebecca Calhoun, and Dallas Schmitt, and her great granddaughter Elizabeth Calhoun. She was also survived by her stepchildren Justin Dyess and Kirk Davis, and her step grandchildren Tyler Dyess, Jeremy Dyess, Bonnie Dyess, Zachery Dyess and Sara Davis.
A graveside service will be conducted at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15. Arrangements are with Byrum Funeral Home of Lancaster.
