Obituary

Born on October 6, 1946, Marion lived a life of hard work and unwavering dedication to his family. He passed away on February 11, 2025, but the memory of him will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.

Marion was a man of few words, yet his presence spoke volumes. He was not the loudest voice in the room, but his calm, steady demeanor and natural authority commanded attention. He had an incredible ability to lead by example, quietly guiding those around him with strength, wisdom, and integrity. His actions, rather than his words, made an impact on everyone he encountered. Marion always had a way of making things happen, simply by being there and giving his all.

Above all, Marion loved his family deeply. He is survived by his devoted wife, Annie Lee Finley, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He is also survived by his children: Lee Finley and his wife Miki, Lou Shawl and her husband Brian Shawl, and Chris Finley and his wife Karen. Marion's love for his children and grandchildren was endless, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was a proud father, and his greatest joy came from watching his children grow and flourish.

Marion's heart also held a special place for his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Many of them growing up remembering rides in "Pa's truck." going on countless vacations and him watching them day to day. They were his legacy, and the love he gave them will continue to shape their lives in the years to come.

Sadly, Marion's daughter, Melanie Ann Finley, preceded him in death, but her memory lives on in all of us, as we carry her in our hearts alongside Marion.

In the way that Marion lived, we learn a powerful lesson: the true measure of a person is not in how loudly they speak, but in how they live and love. Marion's hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering commitment to his family are the hallmarks of his life, and we will carry these qualities forward as a tribute to him.

As we say goodbye to Marion, we find comfort in knowing that he is at peace, reunited with those who have gone before him. His funeral service will be held on February 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster, Texas, with doors opening at 12:30. Following the service, we will proceed to Wheatland Cemetery for his burial, where we will lay his physical form to rest, but his spirit will remain with us forever.

Marion Lee Finley, Sr. may no longer walk among us, but the love he shared and the lessons he taught will live on in the lives of those he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Marion. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
