Mary Evelyn York Peden, age 80, passed away on October 8, 2026, in Dallas, TX 75230. She was born on April 6, 1946, in Lancaster, TX.

Evelyn was a graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1964, where she proudly served as the Valentine Sweetheart and was a member of the Drill Team. She went on to work for many years for Henrietta ISD, dedicating much of her life to supporting education. Outside of work, Evelyn was quite an artist who loved painting pictures, working on puzzles, playing bingo, and spending time in her garden.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry W. Peden; her parents, Amy and Elva York; her brothers, M.D. York and Chalmer York; and her sisters, Jimmie Faye Norwood and Emily York.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Jana Marie Peden; her sister, Lana York; her sister, Jane Nolen; and her brother, Joe York. She also leaves behind nine nieces and nephews, and fifteen great-nieces and great-nephews who will cherish her memory.

Family will receive friends on the 16th day of October, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel.

Her funeral will be at 1:00pm on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel.

A graveside service will follow immediately after at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster, TX.
