Obituary

Mildred LaNell Singleton Priddy was born September 23,1930 in India, Texas to Harvey & Millie Singleton. She died September 21, 2025 in Midlothian, Texas, at age of 94.

Mildred accepted Christ at a young age, baptized at First Baptist Church, Ferris, Texas. She attended Ferris schools, playing basketball during her high school years and graduated May 1947. On April 3, 1947, she and Weldon Priddy were married in Ferris, Texas. They lived on a farm between Ferris and Lancaster with daughter, Lynda and son, Troy. 1953 they moved to Lancaster. They attended Central Baptist Church where Mildred taught preschool Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on committees when needed. Early 1970's they moved their membership to First Baptist, Lancaster where she continued to serve on committees, served as a money counter, loved attending ladies Sunday school class and delivered meals on wheels until her health no longer allowed.

She loved to cook, gardening and yard work with her husband. She & Weldon would always have a spring & fall garden that people would stop and admire. Together they enjoyed canning vegetables they grew. Mildred also worked in her parent's country store in India, Texas during the farmers' busiest seasons. Until she developed macular degeneration, she loved to read, sew and do embroidery. In 2003 they moved to Red Oak, Texas. Mildred lost the love of her life 2010 and continued to live in Red Oak until she was no longer able to live alone. Later she was diagnosed with senile degeneration of the brain, a form of dementia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sister, Tommie Jo and brother-in-law, Wayne Lonon.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Lynda Penny, Ovilla, Texas; her son, Troy Priddy (Dot) of Midlothian, Texas. Known as Baboo, she is survived also by 4 grandchildren, Amy (Jason)Penny-Lowe, Jeremy (Sandi) Priddy, Aaron (Dyan)Penny, and Mitch (Alicia)Priddy, all of Midlothian, Texas; 6 great grandchildren: Megan, Emalee and Nathan Lowe, Josey Priddy, Ava and Lyla Penny; one brother, Raymond Singleton of Midlothian, Texas; and many nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Lancaster or the Alzheimer's Association.

A special thanks for the staff and caregivers at Midlothian Midtowne Assisted & Memory Care, Brookdale in Waxahachie, Texas and Midlothian Healthcare Long Term. Also, a special thanks to the chaplains and nurses of Bristol Hospice for the love & care given to our mom.

Mama, you were the best and we will miss you very much and we will be with you again in Heaven.

Family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel with a Celebration of Mildred's life beginning at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster.
