Peggy Ann Dickey was born July 5, 1933 in Red Oak, TX to Leonidus and Lela Ann (Anderson) Bracken and passed from this life on October 25, 2021 in Ovilla, TX.

Peggy was a Past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Ferris Chapter #508 and Lancaster #943. Peggy was a very loyal member of her Chapters, was an Endowed member, and held many positions through the years.

She loved to go to the casino, and was always ready to travel and be on the go. Peggy was a little lady who could really eat. She wasn't a fan of cooking (she knew the Denny's menu by heart), but she could make some amazing banana pudding! She put her heart into everything she was involved in. She contributed her bad knees to playing "6 man" basketball in Red Oak when she was in school, yes, she was 5'1" then too! Mamaw was height challenged, but it didn't stop her from doing anything. When Papaw acquired a Cadillac from a friend and gave it to Mamaw to drive, she came by to show us. There were two yellow pages phone books in the driver's seat so she could see over the steering wheel.

Peggy was efficient, too. She purchased a fully decorated Christmas tree from a holiday silent auction one time. She wouldn't let them disassemble it before taking it home because she just loved the way it looked. She took it home just as it was in the back of her car, set it up for Christmas, and then moved it into a closet still decorated so it would be ready for the next year. Outside of Christmas decorations, Peggy loved her roosters. She had dishes, pictures, clothes, rugs, everything!

More than all of these, Peggy loved her grandkids, especially shopping for back-to-school clothes. If there was an event for one of the grandkids, she was there!
The grandkids just loved to sit back and listen and laugh at conversations between Mamaw and Papaw. She would give Billy a look, and then she would correct his "stories". They were BIG on Christmas, and there were always tons of gifts in which Peggy DID NOT believe in taking the price tags off.

And we will always remember how it sounded when she would call his name…."Billy!"
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Gary Wayne Dickey and Curtis Edward Dickey; and her siblings, Lawrence Bracken, Hazel Bracken Powell, Mildred Bracken Junkin, Edythe Bracken Hill, Ray Bracken, and Billy Don Bracken.

Peggy is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Ray Dickey; her children, Leigh Ann Fox and Michael Rex Dickey; her daughter-in-law, Lois Dickey; her grandchildren, Lori Fox, Kristen Dickey and wife Heather, John Burns, Kody Burns, Weston Fox and wife Megan, Meagan Fox, Tamara Greer and husband Cody, Justin Fox, Brooke Cornett and husband Ethan, Courtney Dickey, Douglas Dickey, and Trace Dickey; her great-grandchildren, Arianna Fox, Jude Burns, Kieran Burns, Emmaline Rose Burns, Ruby Gene Cornett, Delilah Rose Cornett, Elijah Fox, and Charlie Joy Greer.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Ovilla United Methodist Church with a graveside to follow in Red Oak Cemetery.

Following the graveside, friends are invited to join the family for lunch at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Peggy's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
