Peggy Burk Evans, the loving matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in Humble, TX. She was born on May 18, 1933 in Bristol, TX to James Richmond Burk and Bertha Bell Gladney Burk. Peggy married the love of her life, Albert "Bob" Evans on March 30, 1956.
She lived in Lancaster, TX until 1978 when she moved to Red Oak. Peggy's life was spent giving and doing for others. She spent many hours of her life working on her passion of making quilts. She loved making them and giving them.
Peggy began volunteering at Red Oak Elementary in 1996. After obtaining her G.E.D., she spent over 20 years working at ROE where she loved every minute of it and made lifelong friends.
Peggy had 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She kept all 5 of her grandchildren while they were growing up.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Evans; her sisters, Betty Jo Burk and Delores Flatt; and her parents.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Debra "Debbie" Horn and Ronnie; her son, Wesley Evans and Donitta; her sister, Ruby Nelson; her grandchildren, Joey Horn and Tiffany, Ricky Horn and Jacqueline, Desirae Evans, Amanda Evans and Tyler, and Michael Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Bradien Evans, Riley Horn, Rebecca Horn, Colton Silva, Zachary Horn, Reagan Horn, and Ember Sifford; a number of nieces and nephews; and her ROE family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, February, 16, 2024 at Byrum Funeral Home. A Celebration of Peggy's life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Bristol Cemetery.
