Ralph Stewart Madden Sr., 82, of Red Oak, TX passed away from Pulmonary Fibrosis on Thursday, September 29, 2022. He passed peacefully at home after saying a final goodbye to his family, who he loved more than anything.

Ralph was born on August 15, 1940, in Henry County, KY to William Madden and Allie Stewart. During his younger years, Ralph grew up splitting his time between a family farm in Ballardsville, KY and living with his mother in Detroit, MI. After graduating high school in 1958 in Gaylord, MI, Ralph moved back to Detroit and started a career in data processing working for Blue Cross Blue Shield. It was during this time that not only did Ralph discover his love of business and data processing but also met the love of his life, Deana Marquez.

Ralph and Deana married on November 5, 1960 and quickly had a growing family. In the 1970's, Ralph developed an intense love for the Dallas area after visiting for work, and he vowed to relocate his family to Texas if ever given the opportunity. A few years later, he made good on his promise and moved his family to Lancaster, Texas where Ralph and Deana raised their family for decades.

Once in Texas, Ralph completed the business banking program at Southern Methodist University. He enjoyed a long career working on the executive team for several large companies including IBM and First Security Bank. Ralph and Deana finally retired in 2005 after settling down in Red Oak. Ralph was passionate about traveling the United States with his beautiful wife, growing the best tomatoes, having the prettiest yard, and watching the Cowboys and Rangers. After several years of retirement, Ralph found a new calling in being an active citizen of Red Oak. He joined the Parks and Recreation Board before becoming an elected City Councilman and eventually Mayor Pro Tem. Ralph was extremely proud to be part of the Red Oak municipal family.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Maynard Madden of KY; his infant son, Richard; and his eldest son, Brent. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Deana; his son, Ralph; his daughter Alicia; his grandson, Chase; his great-grandson, Jude; and many, many extended family members and friends. Ralph's love for his family was as deep as his love of Texas, and his loss is truly devastating to those who love him.

A celebration of Ralph's life will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service at Byrum Funeral Home, the family will receive guests at their home in Red Oak.
