Dr. Ramon E. Goforth was born January 12, 1933 in Dallas, TX to James Wilburn and Vada (Ray) Goforth and passed from this life on October 28, 2020 in DeSoto, TX.

Ramon graduated from SMU with both his bachelor's and master's degrees. After working for Boeing for 6 months, he was called into active duty with the United States Air Force. Ramon had an incredible career. He worked for LTV 14 years before starting work on his doctorate degree at UTA. Ray also worked for NASA for a summer on developing a moon colony and the materials it would use from the moon to build the structures. His most cherished accomplishment was his 25 years as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. After his retirement, he enjoyed being an Adjunct Professor for Texas A&M, SMU, and Baylor. Along with his love for teaching, his love for Jesus was stronger and it showed in the way he lived his life. Ramon was active in Christian Leadership Ministry which is a part of Campus Crusade at Texas A&M. He also served as a deacon in the Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Billie Kissinger.

Ramon is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn; his daughter, Nannette Pope and husband Paul; his son, James Ramon Goforth; his granddaughters, Natalie Joseph and husband Kyle, Catherine Pope, and Selah Grace Goforth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Family will receive friends from 11:30am to 1:30pm, Monday, November 2, 2020 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Ramon's life will be held at 2:00pm in the chapel with graveside immediately following in Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster.
