Ray Leroy Hampton, Sr. was born on July 20, 1935 to Daniel Paul Hampton and Zettie Gertrude Hampton in Poplar Buff, Missouri. He passed from his earthly life on September 16, 2023 with his wife by his side. He was the youngest of 7 children. Ray married the love of his life, Wanda Hampton, on August 27, 1955, and they were blessed with 68 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Daniel and Zettie Hampton; his sister, Dorothy Brown; and his brothers, Paul, Walter, Chester, Lester, and James.

Ray is survived by his wife, Wanda; his children, Janette (Gary), Ray, Jr. (Elizabeth), Melinda (Dave), Diana (Charles), and Dewayne (Sharon); 18 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.

A celebration of Ray's life will be at 10:00am on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Byrum Funeral Home. Interment is at Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster.
