Robert Lee Fitzhugh of Waxahachie, Texas was born October 31, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to Johnnie Lee & Nellie Elizabeth (Martin) Fitzhugh. He passed from this life on January 27, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald E. Fitzhugh.

He is survived by wife Katherine (Hagard) Fitzhugh; son Jeff Fitzhugh, wife Angela & children Elizabeth, Ezekiel, and Eli; daughter Allison Douthit, husband Danny & children Bryson, Brenna, and Brooke; grandchildren Wesley Jamison, Wyatt Jamison, Aerik Stirrat, Ella Stirrat, Trey House, Riley House, Rosalie House, Samuel House, Willow Stirrat, Bella Asmus.

Robert graduated from Lancaster High School in 1960. He attended Baylor University and Louisiana College. Robert came back to his home town and taught for many years at Lancaster High School.

After retiring from teaching, he worked for the Texas Handgun Academy and Simmons Security.

Robert enjoyed spending time outdoors. He always looked forward to the next canoeing, backpacking or camping trip. He touched many lives through the Royal Ambassador program.

In later years, he enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with his grandchildren.
