Ronald Lee McCumsey was born April 28, 1950 in Dallas, Texas and passed from this life on July 16, 2026 in Lancaster, Texas.
Ronald worked as a Pattern Tool Maker at Vaught Aircraft for 33 years and was always inventing new tools with random pieces he had around the house. He always had time to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. When he wasn't helping, he enjoyed woodworking, Nascar, and watching Formula 1 racing with his son, Doug. Along with his apparent love of loud and fast engines, he also raced Motorcross in an "Over 40" group while Doug raced in a youth bracket. Family was everything. Of course, a trip to El Fenix with them also made his day! He also had the greatest laugh! Another of his favorite "hobbies" was pulling pranks on those he loved! Among his favorites was asking someone to open a jar or can for him and a fake snake popping out! More than all of these, Ronald's favorite thing in life was loving his soulmate, Lois, and making memories with her on their many road trips.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Lois Gayle McCumsey; his parents, Glenn Warren and Christine Marie McCumsey; his older brother, Ricky Warren McCumsey; and his sister-in-law, Judy Estelle McCumsey.
Ronald is survived by his son, Douglas Lee McCumsey and wife Brittany; his grandchildren, Ethan, Logan, Maggie, and Kellan; his younger brother, Randy McCumsey and wife Jann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ronald's life will be at 12:00pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster with visitation beginning at 11:00am prior to the service.
