Roscoe Carter, beloved father and friend, passed away to be with his Savior in Heaven.

Roscoe was a caring person and everybody's friend. He enjoyed playing guitar with his friends and playing golf. Roscoe worshipped at the Pleasant Run Church of Christ.

Roscoe served 20 years in the US Navy, seeing action in Korea and Vietnam. Following his military service, he began a career in the oilfield. He worked in natural gas processing plants and gas compressor stations, servicing gas turbines and compressors. Additionally, he built gas gathering systems and worked as a land man on various projects. Roscoe's people skills and love for animals were evident as he always had a loyal dog by his side and occasionally provided a home for cats in the plant office. He worked in remote locations across Texas, Oklahoma, and even started up a plant in Greeley, Colorado. After thirty years in the oilfield, Roscoe retired and settled in DeSoto, Texas, to be with his family.

Roscoe was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Doris, who passed away in 2006. Later in life, he found love again and married Jane Sikes in 2010. They were happily married for 10 years until her death.

Roscoe is survived by his son, John Carter and daughter, Orlenna (m Allen Dobrynin). He is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Debra Sikes, Mark and Darlette Sikes, and Phillip and Deborah Sikes. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of Roscoe's life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel in Lancaster with visitation beginning a 10:00am prior to the service.
