Roy Lamar Maxey was born July 14, 1938 in New Albany, MS to Leet and Laura Mae (Rhea) Maxey and passed from this life on August 11, 2021 in Tyler, TX.
Roy was a kind and gentle soul. He was a force of nature and had more strength and courage than anyone could hope for. Roy was a warrior and lived a life that the rest of us cower from to teach that despite all odds you can still come from a place of love and inspiration. As difficult as his journey was, so many have felt divinely guided and witnessed miracles every step of the way. He was loved and respected by so many. Never meeting a stranger, he loved life and everyone who crossed through his. Over the last years he lived and breathed B&B Pawn. Reba and Billy Chandler allowed him to continue working and, we believe that is in part, how he survived for so long. The only negative thing about Roy that most would say is that he was generous to a fault.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his brothers, Billy Jack, Bobby, Ray, and Bennie Maxey; and his parents.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Gina York; his daughter, Rhonda Fultz and husband Roger; his grandchildren, Joseph York and wife Holly, Donald Hill and wife Brandi, Pamela Martin and fiancé Aaron, Phelicia Roberts and husband David, Jesica McNulty and husband Patrick; his great-grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Morgan, Peyton, Hayden, Gabriel, Jameson, Shayla, Skylar, Isabella, CJ, Donavin, Aaron, Alexis, Lily; his sisters, Sara Maxey and Sue Kennedy; his brother, Richard Maxey and wife Rosemarie; and many nieces and nephews
Family will receive friends from 10:00am to 12:00pm, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel with a celebration of Roy's life beginning at 12:00pm also in Byrum Chapel. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster.
