Soon Ja Golden passed on to be in the arms of Jesus in the kingdom of heaven on the morning of June 12, 2020 following an almost three-year battle with lung cancer. Her husband and daughter were by her side as she listened to a recording of her granddaughters singing her favorite hymn, "Amazing Grace." She was 80 years-old.
Soon Ja was born in Korea on March 2, 1940. After both of her parents passed away when she was about nine years-old, she went to live with her uncle, then her grandmother in Busan. She had one older half-sister and a younger sister. She met her husband, James, while he was stationed in Korea in the army. They fell in love and married on February 12th, 1964. They built their life together in Texas and have been living in Lancaster, Texas, since 1970.
Soon Ja's life revolved around her family and serving the Lord. She is survived by her husband, James Earl Golden of Lancaster; her daughter, Waneta Lee Chenault and husband, Scott of Flower Mound; and her granddaughters, Lisa and Kate Chenault.
Because of the current situation we are all dealing with surrounding Covid-19 and restrictions on the number of people allowed at gatherings, Soon Ja's family will be having a private funeral at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster, Texas. She will be interred at DFW National Cemetery.
Her family wishes to thank you for your understanding.
