Tim Skidmore passed away on April 23, 2021 at the age of 66 in Waxahachie, TX. He was born on August 2, 1954 in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

He worked as a Process Engineer at Raytheon and graduated from East Texas State University (now A&M Commerce) with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Chemistry. He was a volunteer in his community, and was particularly devoted to helping young men learn life and wilderness skills through his work as Assistant Scoutmaster in Boy Scout troop 140. He loved hiking and camping, learning and teaching survival skills, reading science fiction books, and spending time with family. He also loved to travel throughout the US. Along with his wife, he had the goal to visit all 50 states. Together they visited 47.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Othell and Jo Ann Skidmore. He is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Merribess Skidmore; his sister, Sheryl Skidmore; his four children, Morgan, Maeve, Clayton, and Samuel; sons- and daughter-in-law, Nathan Kaplan, Mark Beaty, and Lynn Hunter; three grandsons, Ollie, Miles, and Isaac Kaplan; mother- and father-in-law Betty and Bobby Mayo; numerous cousins, brothers- and sisters-in law, nieces and nephews, and the many of those whose lives he touched.

Family will receive friends on Monday, April 26th, 2021 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Byrum funeral home.

Celebration of life will be on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Byrum Funeral Home, 425 N. Dallas Ave, Lancaster, Texas.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm in Nelta, Texas (near Sulphur Springs) at the Nelta Cemetery.
