Virginia Lee Bowman, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living in Kerrville, Texas. A Celebration of her life will be Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church in Lancaster, Texas.

Virginia was born in Garland, Texas on January 11, 1926 to William Ernest Schmitt and Lottie Syble Sauls Schmitt. She attended Richardson High School. She married the love of her life, J.D. Bowman, on December 25, 1941. They were married 68 years until J.D.'s death in 2010. They lived in Lancaster, Texas for many years. She was a homemaker and then later in life worked in the tax office for Dallas County for 21 years. She was a very loving mother and grandmother to her large family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Reggie Bowman; sister, Gertrude Downing; and brother, W.E. Schmitt.

She is survived by three sons, Rodney Bowman and wife Joan of Kerrville, Texas, Ernie Bowman and wife Becky of Fate, Texas, Terry Bowman and wife Lea Ann of Santo, Texas; Reggie's wife, Darlene Bowman of Mansfield, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Atria Senior Living in Grand Prairie, Texas, where Virginia lived for 4 ½ years before moving to Kerrville, for their love and care.
