Walter Hudson Weaver of Lancaster, Texas passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Even though the cancer took over his body, it never took over his spirit, strength, or love. Walter loved life, his family and being outdoors. He was a loving and devoted husband of almost 54 years, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, birding and football, but more so loved all the relationships those things brought him. Through his rough exterior Walter´s heart was pure and loyal.

Walter was the second son of Mary Alice and George Townes Weaver born March 29, 1946, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was a proud Pine Bluff Zebra. He attended SMU's Cox School of Business and was once the oldest man playing football in the Southwest Conference. After serving in the US Marine Corps, Walter received two Masters degrees from Reformed Theological Seminary. For the next 40 years, he taught and coached in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Texas. He coached the Wilmer Hutchins High School Football Team in 1990 when they won the Texas 4A state Championship and was an All-Star Coach in 1992. Walter served on the Lancaster City Council representing District 1. Whether it was coaching, hunting, or in town politics Walter Weaver left a lasting effect on everyone he knew, including five Walters that carry his name.

He is survived by his wife Suzi; his daughters, Gretchen Weaver (Morgan Rowe-Morris), Hudson Weaver, and Natalie Stenehjem (Ian); his granddaughters, Avery Yvonne and Riley; and his "adopted" son, Kevin Weaver (Shawn); his five grandchildren, Whitney, Kendall, Kip, Robert, and Walter; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The Services are at 2 pm, March 4 at First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster followed by a reception at the Rawlins Farm. The attire is casual, overalls and camouflage are accepted.
