Obituary

William "Bill" Bond was born February 22, 1934 in Red Oak, Texas and passed from this life on May 30, 2024 in Waxahachie, Texas. Our beloved father and Papa passed away in his home which was right where he wanted to be.

Bill grew up and went to school in Red Oak. Starting at the young age of 10, he worked a grocery store before and after school. His family moved to Cleburne when he was a junior or senior. He graduated from Cleburne High School. A few years later, Bill was drafted in the US Army on April 3, 1956 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on February 4, 1958. When he returned home, he drove a taxi and delivered milk for Oak Farms Dairy for several years. He then began selling life insurance door to door for the National Life Insurance Company. In 1969, he moved his family to Lancaster and opened his own insurance agency which he ran for many years.

Bill had many loves. Shooting pool, playing golf, and bowling were among his favorite things to do. Poker was right up there with the rest as he was 17 years old when he learned to play poker in a room at the top of the Rogers Hotel in Waxahachie. He was also a diehard Texas Rangers fan. More important than all of these was his love of Christ. Bill was baptized as a young boy in Red Oak, but he was baptized again just a few years ago as it was important to him to recommit his life to Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his father, William Christian Bond; his mother, Ruth Bell Bond; his son, Billy Jack Bond; and six older brothers and sisters. The closest to him were his sister, Leona and his brother, Paul.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Bond; his daughter, Tricia Lohden and husband Anthony; his son, Jeff Bond and wife Bonnie; his grandchildren, Lee and Kimberly, Taylor and Jaime, Bond and Brittany, Cole and Anna, Madison and Casey, Landri and Travis, Ben, and Jennifer; his great-grandchildren, Jameson, Hayes, Bodhi, Kendall, Chamberlin, Carli, Henry, Austin, Jason, Olivia, William, Benson, Ruth, and our Angel baby, Jericho James.

Family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Byrum Funeral Home. A Celebration of Bill's life will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Edgewood Cemetery.
