William Tenison "Buddy" Slaton, Jr., 80, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Buddy will be remembered for his sharp wit, generous heart, and unwavering work ethic that touched all who knew him.

Born on February 16, 1945, in Dallas, Buddy was the son of William Tennison Slaton and Janet Sims Slaton. He graduated from Hillcrest High School before attending Georgia Tech. Proud to serve his country, Buddy spent seven years in the Marine Corps Reserve.

Buddy built a successful career as the owner and operator of B&R Development, known for his craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to his work and clients. Beyond his professional life, he was a man of deep passions—an avid outdoorsman who loved dove hunting and fishing, a skilled snow skier, and a voracious reader. He and his beloved wife, Diann Tessman Slaton, shared 45 wonderful years together, traveling the world and cherishing time spent at their favorite getaway in South Padre.

Above all, Buddy loved his family fiercely. He is survived by his wife, Diann; his sons, William Tennison Slaton III, Sean Andrew Slaton, Ryan Boldrick (Ann Marie), and Jeffrey Boldrick (Leslie); his daughter, Elisa Slaton Eckel (John); and his brother Dwight Slaton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Deborah Slaton Tompkins; and his brother, Fredrick Sims Slaton.

Visitation will be from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Friday, January 9, 2025 at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster. A reception will follow from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at Highland Residences in Dallas. There will be a private service for family only, and the interment will be in the historic Hutchins Cemetery in Hutchins, Texas.

Buddy's laughter, kindness, and craftsmanship will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
