William "Bill" McDavid Filgo, WWII veteran, Dallas businessman, avid fisherman, and devoted member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church passed away on Patriot's Day, February 19, 2018 after a "wonderful life" of 102 years.
Bill was born on July 17, 1915 in Lancaster, Texas to Joseph Taylor Filgo and Theresa McDavid. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother Ruby, his wife Hortense, and his siblings Ray Filgo, Roy Lee Filgo and Mary Ruth Pledger.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister- in- law Lana Henslee Filgo, his nephews Glenn Montgomery (Cary) and John Taylor Filgo (Sharon), his nieces Susan Filgo, Becky Beasley Colwill (Brian), Beth Bailey (Mel), Barbara Rushing (Joe), Julia Taylor (Don), Gail Corley, and a host of cousins, great nephews and great nieces, and friends. A special thank you for the loving care Bill received from his caregivers Joann and Roy Lee Wade in their VA group home and to the doctors, nurses, and social workers of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Bill's Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 1:30 at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. Following the service, graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster, Texas. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors, any veteran's organization or to Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.
