Windsor L. "John" McKay was born May 6, 1943 in Stephens County, Texas and passed from this life on August 9, 2024 in Midlothian, Texas.

John had a lifelong passion for reading. His original dream was to be a writer. This love led him to work for the Dallas Public Library in printing, graphics, and editing materials for local publication. He retired in 1999 with over 30 years of service. John had many other loves. He was an avid model railroader. He loved Santa Fe trains and watching the Santa Fe Texas Chief pull into Dallas Union Station. John also had a passion for animals. He never turned away a hungry stray. This was even more proof of his generous heart. If he had anything that could be shared, he shared it! More than all of these, though, he loved his family the most.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Windsor A. and Lida Louise McKay; his aunt, Bernice Jaqueline McKay; and his grandparents.

John is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Paczkowski and husband, Eric; his sister, Mollye McKay Hearn and husband, Clyde; his nieces, Rhonda Bishop and Sheila Chamberlain; and his nephews, Ronald Scott and Jeffrey Scott.

A celebration of John's life will be at 1:00pm on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in DeSoto, TX with visitation from 12:45pm to 1:00pm prior to the service. Graveside will follow at 2:00pm at Little Bethel Cemetery in Duncanville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in John's name to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
