Woodrow Moulton Baker, 93, of DeSoto, Texas went home to meet his Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. His passing was very peaceful, and he was surrounded by his family at the end. Woody was born on December 16, 1923 in Prosper, Texas to William Moulton and Damia Robertson Baker. He graduated from Prosper High School in May 1942 and joined the service in December 1942. Woodrow served in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942 – 1946. Upon returning home he began working for the Dallas Cotton Exchange in 1947. Eventually Woody became a cotton broker for the exchange and retired in 1988. He was a member of Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church. Woodrow met Margaret Louise Covey in 1947 and they were married in Dallas, Texas on February 17, 1950. Their daughter Paula Kay was born in October of 1964. They had 58 wonderful years together until Margaret's passing in 2008. Woodrow was also preceded in death by his parents, William and Damia Baker and brothers Joseph W. Baker and John L. Baker.
Woodrow's favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting. He had many fishing buddies over the years, and Uncle Woodrow had many fond memories of taking his nephews fishing. Trout fishing in Colorado meant the world to him. He also enjoyed all sports. Woody loved the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and any sport his grandchildren were playing.
Woody is survived by his daughter Paula Kay Baker Daugherty and husband Michael of Midlothian, TX; Granddaughter Taylor Renae Daugherty of Waxahachie, TX; Grandson Colton Jack Baker Daugherty of Midlothian, TX; sister Kathryn Baker Crawford of DeSoto, TX; sister Gladys Baker Glover of Springfield, VA; Brother–in-law Hilton Covey and wife Francis of Mt. Pleasant, TX; Sister-in-law Dorothy Zane Covey Lebsack and husband Victor of Mt. Pleasant, TX; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
