About Byrum Funeral Home Inc.

Ever since we opened our gates we have approached life (and death) differently. While some just see the end of a loved one’s life as a time for grief and mourning, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation and even celebration. This is evident in everything we do, from the way we conduct our services to the amenities we choose to offer. We are not a burial ground. We are a close knit community dedicated to honoring, sharing and preserving the amazing and inspirational stories that are life.

We are in our 75th anniversary year! In 1950, Willfred and Noma (Chowning) Byrum began providing funeral home services and assisting the families in the Lancaster area when they started the first 'Funeral Home' in the Lancaster, Texas area.

Initially, the Byrums were partners with the Rudolph Funeral home of Waxahachie. Upon the death of Romney Rudolph, the Byrums purchased his share of stock and changed the name to Byrum Funeral Home. Since that time, Byrum Funeral Home has continued to be family owned and operated. Now, four generations of the Byrum family have continued to be involved with the funeral home operations.

The funeral home itself was built in 1918 out of cypress. The original structure is a white two story, pillared colonial style home. In 1960 and 1965, additions were completed to increase the size of the staterooms and chapel. We take pride in knowing that our funeral home is just that…a home. We are still family owned and operated, and for 75 years, these communities have been welcomed into our home and treated as family.

Along with serving families, Byrum Funeral Home is a charter member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, a supporter of Lancaster Outreach, local schools, churches, clubs and businesses.

Celebrating Life in Our Community

Since 1933, we have been devoted to serving families in our area with high-quality burialfuneral, and cremation services. Our experienced staff members are active in our community and prioritize volunteering and attending local events. We respect the power of remembrance and the value of funerals. We believe in recognizing the significance of every life and honoring the difference your loved one made in the world. Paying tribute to their loved ones helps family and friends grieve their loss and begin the healing process.
